Screen Printing
Screen Printing, which is also known as Silk Screening, is a method of printing graphics on a t-shirt using thick inks that lay on top of the shirt rather than soaking into the shirt. Screen Printing is what most companies use and, back in the day, was the only major way to create bulk amounts of custom t-shirts.

Embroidery
Embroidery is best for creating logos on a thicker garment, such as a polo shirts or jumpers. Embroidery on garments are long lasting and durable. Embroidery may cost more than traditional printing, however the longevity makes it cost effective.
With larger designs, we would recommend printing over embroidery. Not all designs are suitable for embroidery and therefore you should take this into consideration. For best results, avoid heavy gradients and a high use of complicated colour palates.

Heat Transfer
A somewhat recent innovation, heat transferring images to fabric has become more popular in the last 20 years. A heat transfer uses a combination of heat and pressure to print images onto t-shirts and other items. There are two main kinds of heat transfer methods: vinyl and digital print. Both methods require the use of a heat-press machine.

Sublimation
Sublimation shirt printing is a specific process of printing that first involves printing onto a special sheet of paper, then transferring that image onto another material (usually polyester or a polyester mix).
The ink is then heated until it disintegrates into the fabric. The result is a permanent, full colour image that won’t crack, peel or wash away from the substrate. The process allows the ink to go from a solid to a gas without turning to liquid, a bit like dry ice. The conversion is initiated by heat and controlled by pressure.
Sublimation printing is also known as ‘all over printing’ as it allows you to choose a design that can literally go from seam to seam.

Digital Print
Digital printing is a much newer process that involves your artwork being processed by a computer, and then printed directly onto the surface of your product.
Digital printing is not a transfer – the ink is directly adhered to the fabric of your custom shirt. The fact that the design is processed and printed digitally allows for a quantity of one, since there are no screens or physical setup.
Digital printing is best used for items that require large amounts of detail and/or print colors, customers that require water based ink, and for orders of a smaller quantity (5 or less pieces). The fact that the digital printer does not use screens allows for a photographic print, with much more detail than traditional screen printing.
As the ink is applied thinner (to achieve such detail), digital printing is best used on lighter colored shirts to allow the design to shine through.
